Being a Light in the Darkness

Hey Everyone!

Over the past few weeks, there has been a burden on my heart for sharing the gospel. The seeds of this burden were planted when i watched Rend Collective’s As Family We Go promotional video, and throughout the video Gareth tells the story od St. Brendan. He also talks about how we as Christian’s can get complacent and comfortable in where we are and what we are doing to the point where we have essentially become lukewarm pew warmers, rather than following where God’s spirit calls us, even when it is outside of our comfort zones and means leaving what is known and familiar. The phrase that Gareth used that has stuck with me is something along the lines of “we gather for strength and scatter for light”, which to me means, we as the church gather to learn and grow spiritually as well as help build each other up and help them grow, yet go out and share the light of the gospel with those who need to hear it, as well as meet other Christians along the way. In meeting other Christians along the way, they can help us grow and we can help them grow and encourage each other.

“Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭5:14-16‬ ‭KJV

‬“Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭28:19-20‬ ‭KJV

‬‬
God has called us to let our light shine like a house on a hill (or like a lighthouse out to sea), and to share the Gospel with others.
